After the respite in August, September brings intense climax to the season of mutables. A solar eclipse at 9 degrees Virgo launches off the month on Sept. 1. Now, this solar eclipse has a powerful emphasis on the Virgo-Pisces polarity because the sun, moon, North Node, Jupiter and Mercury RX transit in the sign of the Virgin. And then this cluster of planets in Virgo square Saturn and Mars in Sagittarius and oppose Neptune in Pisces.
For the entire summer we swam through the murky waters of the Saturn-Neptune Square and we’ve seen the energies playing out in the dissolution of unions, in the political arena and with the religious right. We’ve witnessed clashing of ideologies, manifested desires appearing and disappearing and our thoughts scattering in the winds of change. Top that off with Mars joining Saturn in Sagittarius which just heats up the clash of ideologies as well as restrictions on travel and suffocating legal situations. And with the solar eclipse which brings all this to a boil, we experience an emphasis in Virgo. So we had better become comfortable with Virgo energy, which is about discernment and dissemination of energies flying at us.
The Virgo solar eclipse picks up the energies of Mercury, Jupiter, and the North Node along with the sun. And for people with natal planets in Virgo, you’re going to feel like someone pushed you on a stage. Everyone’s watching your next move and the spotlight causes you to sweat profusely. People with prominent or several planets in Pisces are also called to the task. No more spacing out or looking for the nearest escape route. It’s time for us to wake up, especially Pisces natives because you represent the endpoint of the Zodiac.
Virgo represents harvest, but we’re harvesting more than fruits, grains, and vegetables. We are in fact harvesting our souls as the planet speeds up its ascension process. Just like birth, it’s a bloody mes; violent in some places, chaotic in others. And if you meditate go find the eye of the storm.
A sextile between Neptune and Pluto as well as, a trine with Pluto and the Virgo planet cluster (Stellium) offer us an outlet for this intense energy. We must look at the bigger picture. We must expand our awareness to take in the wholeness of humanity and the planet. Many of you experience epiphanies now. Some of you float outside of your body. The Universe gifts those of you who mediate with a vision of your life path. But remember we live in quantum realities. So what’s true for one person isn’t for another. It’s not a time to force or enforce our beliefs on others. It’s a time to accept multiple realities or heaven and hell on earth.
The Pisces lunar eclipse on Sept. 16 transits at 24 degrees (sun at 24 Virgo and moon at 24 degrees Pisces). I actually felt nauseated when I saw the lunar eclipse chart and tears formed in my eyes. In fact, I’ve not ever seen a chart this complex, beautiful, and yet terrifying. We have two major squares activated in this chart: the Uranus-Pluto Square and the Saturn-Neptune Square. Neptune forms a triple conjunction with Chiron and the moon which tells me emotions run high and people march out their emotional wounds. The sun joins Mercury RX (confusion, miscommunication) and the North Node in Virgo. And the emphasis of the chart revolves around multiple t-squares.
This means that we have to search for the apex and outlets of each t-square to find release from this tension. Venus in Libra reignites the Uranus-Pluto Square as this planet forms a t-square with those bad boy planets. The divine feminine rises over the old guard like a sun rising over the horizon. Meanwhile, the Virgo cluster opposes the Pisces Triple Conjunction and all of this squares both Mars and Saturn in Sagittarius. Pluto provides the outlet again, but this planet represents transformation, death, rebirth and the phoenix rising from the ashes. Again there’s this feeling of movement and transcendence. People who have done the healing work and bravely journeyed in to their murky subconscious minds, experience deep healing around this eclipse. And those people who have avoided those dark places and glossed their wounds over with so-called positive thinking feel the rug pulled out from under them.
Personally I have found that affirmations offer powerful tools for change, but only if we heal our wounds that lie underneath our impulses and neurosis. I came up with a motto many years ago with my own therapeutic journey, “Denial is a good place to visit, but you don’t want to stay there.”
The emphasis with both eclipses fall on the mutable and cardinal signs. However, we all have the 12 signs somewhere in our natal charts. So that means we must look for Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius, Libra, Aries, and Capricorn on the cusps of our natal houses. The outlets for the mutable t-squares are in Gemini. And the outlet for the cardinal t-square is Cancer. Houses with fixed signs on the cusps take a break during the eclipses. This means that we’re going to lean heavily on the shoulders of Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius and Leo.
Scorpio represents deep psychology and our ability to transform our lives. Aquarius represents our ability to innovate and see the beauty in humanity. Leo represents our ability to use our creative talents for the greater good. And Taurus provides sustenance in the way of food through urban and rural farming.
Last but not least, the eclipses bring earth changes in the form of storms, earthquakes, and even volcanic eruptions. This is why we must heal our hearts and open space for healing light to enter. The eclipses demand that we get past our prejudices and stale beliefs and embrace the whole of humanity. There is no other way. Stop distracting yourself with religion, politics, economics and entertainment. Strip away everything except the love in your hearts. Transcend.
