Ruthie Stender is an award-winning author in both memoir and spiritually-based self-help. Her memoir, “Glowing Houses,” took second place in the nonfiction/memoir category in the 2015 Pacific Northwest Writers Association literary contest. Her essay, “By the Grace of God, I Write Memoir,” is included in a newly published anthology, The Magic of Memoir, Inspiration for the Writing Journey, She Writes Press, November, 2016.
As a past columnist for New Spirit Journal, Ruthie offered readers self-healing strategies based on the principles of yoga, meditation, and energy medicine. These articles served as inspiration for her book, The Eight Aspects of God, A Pathway to Bliss, a finalist in the 2013 National Indie Excellence Awards. Integrating the teachings from this book with the theme of her memoir—resilience—Ruthie is writing a series of monthly articles for the online magazine, Contemplative Journal. These articles focus on building resilience through the practice of meditation and contemplation.
In addition to being a fulltime writer, Ruthie is an inventor, certified meditation teacher and registered yoga instructor. Ruthie believes that through sharing our stories, we find out just how much alike we all are.
