A beautiful, full-color, sturdy book that’s fun to browse, The Healing Foods Cookbook also offers a wonderful array of more than 150 original vegan recipes. Also known as plant-based cuisine, the recipes are grouped into: salads, small plates, and sides; soups; main meals; desserts; juices, shakes, and smoothies; dips and spreads.
Most of the recipes seem to call for well-known and easily sourced ingredients, something that can’t be said for all such cookbooks. Not only are the instructions very clear, each recipe has a photograph of the completed dish. Again, this is very helpful when making new dishes that are outside your usual sphere of cookery.
You’ll want to try sweet potato hummus, cinnamon papaya pudding, and the peanut Thai rive sauté. The author, Gary Null, Ph.D., is a well-known expert in the field of health and nutrition and has written more than 70 books.
